If the PDF is secured with a server-based security policy, only the policy author or a server administrator can change it. If you have the document password, follow the steps below to remove security from the PDF.
- Select Tools > Protect > Encrypt > Remove Security.
- Your options vary depending on the type of password security attached to the document:
- If the document has a Document Open password, click OK to remove it from the document.
- If the document has a permissions password, type it in the Enter Password box and then click OK. Click OK again to confirm the action.

This post is very useful if you have ever needed to make a readonly mac .dmg file writable. Say for instance that you wanted to create a Mac OS X install disk, then mount it up writable, add something to it and then save it to be used to install OS X in say “VMware”. Listed below are the steps to make this happen:
From Terminal:
